About Us
Youth Go Green Ghana is a non-governmental organization set up in October 2017, completed business registration and licensing issued on 10th May 2018 with registration number CG044142018. There are chapters in Uganda and Kenya with Uganda being the mother organization . The organization is a voluntary not-for-profit, non-political organization which is not bound by any religious or ethnic ideology. The organization is focused on the youth thereby targeting school groups, community-based groups, and associations that share common goals.
VISION
Our vision is to make Africa go green by 2030. Ghana Chapter commits to saving Ghana from deforestation, environmental degradation, wetland conservation, and water conservation.
MISSION
Our mission is to promote sustainable green growth economy while contributing to youth empowerment. Our interest is to improve environment conservation through tree planting, climate change mitigation and adaptation.By providing critical information, influencing policy makers, supplying agricultural inputs, raising environmental awareness, advocacy and bringing local, national and global stakeholders together, in attaining Africa going Green by 2030.
GOALS
1. To engage one million youth in an aggressive environmental protection campaign on land use, forestry management, wetland conservation, and water conservation.
2. To plant 10 million trees across Africa in 5 years.
3. To be a leading Ghanaian NGO in technological innovation on energy use and environmental protection.
4. To empower, equip and train Ghanaian youths on climate-friendly agricultural practices.
CORE VALUES
APPRECIATIVE of the historical and current achievements by individuals, religious organizations, and other Environmental and Developmental Organizations in the initiation of environment upgrading and protection.
NOTING the chronic destruction, degradation, and general under-protection of the environment that characterizes the region.
CONSCIOUS of the need to enhance capacity building within and among coastal communities, forest zone, and other catchment zones.
AWARE of the tendency towards climate change and natural resource management, principles of social justice, and good governance in relation to the pastoralists communities and the agro-pastoralist communities.
ACKNOWLEDGE the efforts that have been made before by both the state and non-state actors in the region DETERMINED to take charge of our own future in order to conserve the environment and negative trends on environmental conservation and to empower the people of Ghana and neighboring frontiers for social and economic transformation through environmental conservation.
